What are you spending your money on?

According to Deloitte's 23rd Annual Holiday Survey of retail spending and trends, 59% of consumers expect to reduce their spending this holiday season. Higher food prices (73%) and higher energy prices (69%) were the top two reasons for spending less, outpacing the economy (61%) and job uncertainty (18%).
A record number of consumers say they are pessimistic about the economy. Over half of the respondents (53%) say they expect the economy to weaken next year, the highest in more than 10 years of asking this question, compared with 43% last year.

Categories in which spending is likely to be down the most from last year are

Home improvements
Home/holiday furnishings
Non-gift clothing
Socializing away from home
Charitable donations
Entertaining at home

Consumers also said they would buy fewer gifts this year, 21.5 gifts on average compared with 23.1 gifts last year, and they will spend an average of $532 on gifts this holiday season, down 6.5%.

Success: Is it all rainbows?

This is a question and answer thread of mine from LinkedIn.com - I thought it was very interesting... it is backward like an email:

Hello Sudarshan,

What would success be with out failure. When people think about success they think about what the person had to do to become successful. What did they have to learn. What did they have to accomplish to become successful. The positive is that the person became successful and that they didn't quit before that happend. That would be a shame. The rainbow comes after the rain. The fact that the person went out and was able to succeed or fail is a success by itself don't you think? Doing nothing is failure, and you never hear about those people.

I try to tell them about some mistakes I’ve made hoping that they don’t make the same ones but I think they would much rather find out for them selves.

Characteristics of a Successful Entrepreneur

Guts:
Guts means you must have an entrepreneurial instinct, which is an overwhelming desire to have your own business. You must have the guts and dedication to be completely devoted to your goal. Incidentally, devotion to your goal is much more likely if you have a love for your intended business. Life is too short to start a business that doesn't give you satisfaction and joy. And, through good times and bad times, you will stick with something you love. As Solomon said, "There is nothing better for men (and women!) than they should be happy in their work-so let them enjoy it now."
Brains:
While appropriate educational credentials are important, entrepreneurial "brains" means more than scholastic achievements. To become a successful entrepreneur, you should have a working knowledge about the business you plan to start before you start it. Common sense, combined with appropriate experience, is the necessary brainpower. Prudence, follow through and attention to detail are very important.

Capital:
Every Business needs money of your own plus sufficient cash to maintain a positive cash flow for at least a year. In a future session operating entrepreneurs will learn how to forecast future cash requirements through cash flow control. Many businesses can be started on a very small scale with a small investment. Then, as the business grows and you gain experience, cash flow from your business can be used for growth. In some cases, you don't need starting capital to hire other people because you might start by doing everything yourself. The "do it yourself" start is a good way to learn everything about your business and also makes you better qualified to delegate work to others later on. You can control your risk by placing a limit on how much you invest in your business.

BILL GATES - "11 things you will not learn in high school"

BILL GATES' SPEECH TO MT. WHITNEY HIGH SCHOOL in Visalia, California.
Love him or hate him, he sure hits the nail on the head with this!

To anyone with kids of any age, here's some advice. Bill Gates recently gave a speech at a High School about 11 things they did not and will not learn in school. He talks about how feel-good, politically correct teachings created a generation of kids with no concept of reality and how this concept set them up for failure in the real world.

Rule 1: Life is not fair -- get used to it!

Rule 2: The world won't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.

Rule 3: You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won't be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.

Rule 4: If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss.

Rule 5: Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping -- they called it opportunity.

Rule 6: If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault, so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them.

Rule 7: Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you are. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent's generation, try delousing the closet in your own room.

Rule 8: Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life HAS NOT. In some schools they have abolished failing grades and they'll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer. This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.

Rule 9: Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF. Do that on your own time.

Rule 10: Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.

Rule 11: Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one.

Roll off you like water off a duck’s back

It's always interesting how some people can ignore negative personal comments, whereas others seem to be immediately devastated by them. This thought came to mind as I was listening to the radio the other day. A popular radio personality was talking about the degree of hatred some people have for him. He went on to read a few scathing emails to prove his point and concluded by saying that it really didn't bother him because he didn't take it personally. He then said something that motivated me to write this article. "I don't give people the power to upset or hurt me." This brings me to today's thought.

Today I'm asking you to think about how you typically respond to this type of situation. Negative criticism confronts us regularly in our lives, and it either bothers you or it doesn't. Here's a solution for minimizing the emotional reaction to hurtful criticism: Create a more stable, peaceful state of mind and give less power to the people who have something bad to say about you! So my question for you today is this: Do you usually forfeit power and break down when you are personally attacked or criticized? Or, do you typically let negativity just roll off you like water off a duck's back as the radio personality does?

ARE WE IN A RECESSION?

Every one seems to be worried about the same thing. Companies and families are tightening there belts around the country. Are we heading into a recession?

Here is the problem. Everything is getting more expensive. The dollar is loosing its value and most of us make the same or close to what we made 5 years ago. Tell me I’m wrong.

Here is the difference. We are moving into the information age. We are moving out of the industrial age. If you think that we are already in the information age then talk to the thousands of people that still work in factories around the country whose jobs are being threatened by cheap labor in Pakistan or Mexico. There are going to be some growing pains, and some will be left behind.

When it comes to change there are 3 types of people.

1. Those who are afraid of change and will do what ever they can to stop it.
2. Those who embrace change and make it part of themselves.
3. Those who wonder what happened.

Since we are coming into the information age I believe there are 2 things that will make you the most successful. Information is king.

1. Be the one with the most information about your self. Make this information very easily accessible. This information should be in more than 1 format. People always have a preference how they like to see things. Make your self easy to find for everyone.
2. The ones who can collect and learn the most will win. Now don’t go out there and start learning everything you can. You’ll get burned out. Get the right information from those you trust. Find a mentor and learn from them.

We are all learning every day if we like it or not. Every day things get into our heads that we’ll be using years from now. What do you think about when you’re not thinking about anything?

Knowing people will help you

Thanks to Florence Littauer for these awesome personality examples.

The Sanguine is the popular person who wants to have fun out of every situation and be the life of the party. Sanguine love to talk.

The Choleric is the powerful person who wants to take control of every situation and make decisions for others. Choleric love to work.

The Melancholy is the perfect person who wants everything done in order and done properly and who appreciates art and music. Melancholies love to analyze.

The Phlegmatic is the peaceful person who wants to stay out of trouble, keep life on an even keel, and get along with everybody. Phlegmatics like to rest.
It is amazing how quickly we can learn to spot these people and therefore know how to approach them correctly.

The Sanguines are the easiest to spot because they make grand entrances, love attention, attract people with their magnetism, exude charisma, and tell funny stories. What they want to hear from you is how attractive they are, how you like their hair, make-up, dangling rhinestone earrings, or anything else they have put on to ensure that you notice them. They live for the externals and want you to get excited over their clothes, sense of humor, or new red sports car. If you are a Melancholy, you will not naturally be given to praising the obvious and will feel that to laugh at the Sanguine's jokes and stories will only encourage them to babble on.

The Choleric Powerful Person is easy to spot because he walks with authority and appears to be in charge of everything. Such people don't want to waste much time on trivial activity with no obvious results or converse with people w ho have nothing to say of any consequence. They are frequently telling other people what to do and pointing out the "dummies" of life. They accomplish more than any of the other personality types, can quickly assess what needs to be done, and are usually right. They don't need to be affirmed on their looks, but they love praise for their accomplishment; their speed in problem solving; their constant goal setting, their loyalty to God, church, mother, business, or country; and their sense of fair play. If you are a Phlegmatic you get worn out just watching these people, but if you want them to be impressed with you, tell them how amazed you are at how much they accomplish in a very short time. They may never have noticed you before but they will suddenly see you as a person of great discernment.

The Melancholy Perfect Person is usually very neatly put together and intellectual looking. These people are usually quiet, reserved, and a little ill-at-ease in social situations where they don't know everyone. They would rather talk quietly with one person in depth than banter with a group. They consider compliments on clothes and external niceties to be trivial and want to hear about the inner virtues of integrity, wisdom, and spiritual values. They often marry Sanguines who can't find their way inside these deep virtues and who keep telling them how cute they look. When we don't understand these differences, we are giving out silver boxes that nobody wants. The Melancholy is very sensitive and easily hurt and tends to take what others say in humor as personal and hurtful. Since Sanguines and Cholerics say whatever comes to their minds without weighing their words, they often deflate the Melancholy who is waiting for someone to hand him a silver box that says, "I understand you."

The Phlegmatic Peaceful Person is amiable, easy to get along with, and relaxed. These people fit into any situation, blend in with the wallpaper, and modify their personality to get along without conflict. They laugh with those who laugh and cry with those who cry. Everyone loves the low-key nature of the inoffensive Phlegmatic, and though they aren't loud like the Sanguine, they do have a witty sense of humor. They often lean while standing and sit in comfortable recliner chairs if at all possible. They don't need a lot of praise like the Sanguine, nor do they want to be in charge like the Choleric, or get to deeply involved like the Melancholy. They do appreciate being noticed once and a while, being included in conversations that they won't push into on their own, and being told they are of value and their opinion is respected. Since they often marry Cholerics, whose idea of value is wrapped up in how much is accomplished in a given day, they don't get appreciated for their quiet and gentle spirit. They, in turn, find it difficult to praise the constant projects of the Choleric because it wears them out just thinking of them.

I WAS ABANDOND BY NETWORK MARKETING

HOW SOME PEOPLE TURN MLM INTO SCAMS
BY BRET WADE

I was told by everyone that I knew to stay away from (MLM) network marketing. I didn’t know why at the time but I didn’t care. I was doing other things at the time. The problem with people is that we want to feel comfortable. It isn’t until we feel uncomfortable that we want something different. Well I don’t see that as a problem, I see it as change. So I felt as if every thing was great until it wasn’t. I thought everything was working for me until it wasn’t. I thought that I was doing the best that I could until I wasn’t.

For some reason I felt like I wanted to get something more out of life. When I started to search for this ‘something more’ I found out that there were thousands of people that were out there looking for me. I answered an Email and was talking one on one with someone with-in the next hour at a coffee shop. He made the company sound so great and the system sound so easy that I had to sign up right away.

You wouldn’t believe the headaches I had for the next 6 months. Looking back now I think that my brain was growing (LEARNING NEW STUFF), developing new synaptic responses, but it sure did hurt. It’s hard to explain. Just realize that it was a headache that I never had felt before. I did every thing that I was told to do. When my ‘up-line’ said to do something or go some where, that’s what I did. Some things were really hard for me to do. I’m sure that is the same for every one. There are one or two things that you never saw yourself doing before that you had to force yourself to do if you wanted the big rewards that you heard about.

The next thing that happened is what really changed my life. A man named Sean told me to read the book, “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill. Well then I was really hooked. I’ve read the book 3 times since then and many, many, many others by different authors. Now I will be a life long learner and I will always be ready to learn from anyone that is ready to teach.

So, if you’ve made it this far in my boring story you just have to read a little longer to find out how MLM abandoned me, deserted me, picked me up at the bus stop and dumped me out in the middle of no-where. If this has happened to you then HOW actually doesn’t matter and you all have your own stories HOW it happened. The reason HOW it happened is because it’s supposed to happen that way. The most important thing to understand is WHY.

If you’ve read one of my previous blogs, I talk about how MLM’ers make money. We sell stuff. When someone says, “no, it’s not sales,” They are lying to you. When you say “I’m not good at sales,” You are lying to yourself. Everyone can and has sold something, but that is another short story.

So you are going to have to sell something or find someone that can sell something. What happens is the ‘BIG WIGS’ of Network Marketing are looking for the hidden ‘BIG WIGS’ in sales. They don’t care how many people they have to go through to get to that person. They’ll tell you they care and they want to help you out, but that’s a LIE. You have a friend who has a friend who knows someone whose uncle’s co-worker is perfect for this company. That is Networking and THAT IS SALES. Make the sale and move on…they don’t care about you!

"Companies should identify and work closely with key members
of the industry infrastructure. I believe that 10 percent of the
people in an industry strongly influence the other 90 percent. If a
company can win the hearts and minds of the most important 10
percent its market positioning is assured." Regis McKenna

True but, just as in everything else… People are the problem and people are the solution. Instead of searching for sales people search for leaders or potential leaders . I don’t think that I can ever follow a sales person (as a matter of fact I’d probably run away), but I can follow a leader. I want leaders following me. Instead of passing up someone who doesn’t have the ‘right stuff’ and using them for their contacts, let them learn to have it. The definition of insanity is doing the same things over and over again and expecting different results. The difference is not what we FIND, it’s what we do with it when we find whatever that is. Hand someone a book. Help someone help themselves.

him for a day. Teach a man to fish
and you feed him for a lifetime.”

FEED THE RIGHT WOLF!

A Native American grandfather was talking to his grandson about how he felt.
He said, I feel as if I have two wolves fighting in my heart. One wolf is the vengeful, angry, violent one. The other wolf is the loving, compassionate one.
The grandson asked him, 'which wolf will win the fight in your heart?'

The grandfather answered, 'The one I feed.'

Never Quit

I was actually just coming home from a Tuesday night presentation meeting and I went through one of the worst rain storms in my life. You see, I live about an hour and a half from Denver. I live out east on the plains of Colorado. I thought I was prepared to drive through the storm when it started raining. I wasn’t very prepared.

It started pouring about 30 miles from home. All I could see was the yellow line in the middle of the road. I just looked down and tried to keep the car on the road. Every time the wind would come up it would blow me into the other lane. At one time I was driving about 5 miles per hour, or maybe 3.

I thought about stopping so many times. I was almost stopped any way, but I kept on going. Thunder would shake the car and the wind would push the car around over and over again. All this with out being able to see the road. I was thankful every time lightning struck because it lit up the sky and I could see for a second or two.

I thought I would never make it home but I kept on going. Just then I thought I saw something. There was a small sliver between the clouds and the horizon. Directly in front of me, between this sliver, was a full moon. You know when the moon just comes up and it looks bigger and closer than ever? That’s how it was. It was still raining very hard but the moon lit up my path and I could see again. I saw a mile marker on the road. I was 3 miles from home.

You see, just like my drive in the rain, there are a lot of obstacles on the road to success. Perseverance will get you through those obstacles. The bigger the dream, the bigger the obstacle. I don’t know where I’d be if I would have stopped to wait out the storm. I know this; I’m better for not quitting.

Never Quit,

Bret

I have wasted years being comfortable.

Here is how it happens...

You get a job or you go to a new company. Everything is going good. Maybe you got a pay raise to make the move and you have a little bit extra money in your pocket. Maybe you left your last job because you didn’t get along with your boss. Now you have a new better boss that you love. May be you’re waiting for something better to come along. All of these things keep you comfortable and secure. If they don't you go to where you are more comfortable.

I lived in the same house for 8 years. We had a little 5 acre lot with a really nice barn. It was close to the store. The kids had a lot of friends and liked their school. We had great neighbors. The community had a pool and a club house and an arena that we could use to exercise our horses. It was comfortable. We had a trained house goat (my wife can train any animal). The goat stayed inside and rang a bell when she wanted to go out. According to the Home Owners Association we had to get rid of the goat or they were going to sue us. We ended up giving the goat away. So, at this point we are now uncomfortable. We started casually looking around. We went to a land auction and came home with 160 acres.

The point is that as long as you are comfortable you will not get anything better. You are stuck with what you have right now. So learn something new and become uncomfortable for a while. When you have learned some new skills and you are comfortable again, go out and do something else. Sacrifice is giving up something good for something better.

The main difference from the have’s and the have not’s is the difference between the ones that do and the ones that do not. The rich do the same things as the middle class. They just do more of it.

Let’s get things done.

Bret

Times are hard

Hey Everyone,

I was just sitting here thinking how hard everything is these days. Americans are now spending more that we make. Our take home money is nothing. We make 10% more than we did 15 years ago and our homes cost more than twice as much. The U.S. dollar is worth less than the Canadian dollar. There are more and more foreclosures every day. What are we going to do?

I've been doing allot of research recently. Did you know that in 1820 the separation from the richest country in the world to the poorest was 3. That means that there is 3 countries economically between the richest and the poorest countries in the world. At that time the richest country was England. As of 2006 the separation was 73. WOW!!!

I heard Robert T Kiyosaki speak last weekend and he confirmed my fears. He said that what we are doing is forcing the middle class out of the economy. We will have the rich and we will have the poor, but the middle class (those that hold up the economy) are going to disappear unless we do something about it.We are not in a recession! We are doing the same things the same old ways and unless we do them differently we will be the poor unless we are the rich.

Mr. Kiyosaki mentioned a little about what we need and that is LEADERSHIP. If you do not become the leader, you will become the follower.I want you to succeed.

I want you to learn everything. I don't want you to look back and say, "Well, the business failed, but I gave it a good 42%." We've got to stick together!

Timing is everything...

I don’t want to scare you away but…

…I want to talk about goals. You probably are not afraid of your goals but a lot of people are. I think it’s because people that don’t know what they want, don’t know where they are going in life. People who don’t know what they want can’t right it down. So that makes it hard to write down your goals.

Anyway… Imagine this.

If you woke up tomorrow
and your life was perfect
in every way, how would
you know????

If you can think it, you can see it. If you can see it you can write it down on paper.
Why do you have to write it down?

To make it real of course. Imagination isn’t real. Thoughts are not real until they are acted upon. When you write them down they become as real as the pen and paper that you used to write them with. Now that your goals are real and tangible, you have to believe.

First you have to believe that these goals are possible. If someone else has accomplished these things then they are most likely achievable. Second you must believe that these things are possible for you. ‘If they can do it I can do it’ is an affirmation. It’s you telling yourself that you can do it. Enough of this and you’ll start to believe it. If you believe it you will act on it.

My first cold call took 3 hours. 2 hours 59 minutes pacing back and forth, and 1 minute on the phone. I got voice mail. I never did anything before I did it.

Leaders in this industry didn’t get to where they are by talent alone. Probably not at all. They got to where they are by having skills. Skills are learned, and if skills are learned, then you can learn the skills you need to accomplish your goals.

Never stop learning,

What is Better, The Lottery or Network Marketing?

You're thinking, have you gone MAD Bret? Or some of you know about this. I heard about this my first month in Network Marketing. The speaker said, "this aint the lottery!"

Now I normally wouldn't compare the two, but a lot of frustrated network marketers do. So, in the lottery, we can have no affect on the outcome. We pick our numbers and hope we win. It’s totally random.

However, in Network Marketing you are the single most reason why you will succeed. So the lottery and Network Marketing are actually opposites. Right? When you loose in the lottery you don’t care. You say, “Oh Well, better luck next time. When people try out Network Marketing they get frustrated if they’re not filthy rich after 3 months.

No Matter… They both have about the same statistics. Almost every one looses in both the lottery and Network Marketing. However, people are still playing the lottery. 437 thousand people join Network Marketing every week. When I heard that I thought, “Well that’s a really BIG number.”

So, if you’re going to play the game, you might as well learn how to do it. The more you learn the more attractive you will be and the more attractive you are the more successful you will be.

Let success be yours
http://www.yoursuccessonpurpose.com

My opportunity is better than yours....

I know you won’t believe this but it’s true. Your primary network marketing company doesn’t matter.

What are you talking about Bret? I love my company. How can you say they don’t matter?!

What I mean is…. They do matter but not when it comes to making money. They don’t matter when it comes to people joining your business. They don’t make a difference when it comes to selling their product and creating a residual income.

You matter, Period.

People will buy from you if they need your product and they like you and you are standing next to them helping them make their purchase.

People will join your business if they are looking for a business to start and they like you.

Now most guys aren’t going to jump into doing Avon, but that just narrows down who you are looking for.

I want to help you sell your product and get more reps into your business. I want to help you learn the best and fastest ways to attract more people to you than ever before. I know there are head aches in Network Marketing. To get better you are going to have to learn a few more things. You are going to have to grow as a person.

To your success,

Bret Wade

P.S. Let me know how I can help...any time. 303-669-2738

Networking the Old West Way

I’ve been going to the horse auction since I was 8 years old. There are always great deals at the auction on horses and all the various supplies you need to take care of horses. Even though my wife and I own a horse ranch in Simla, I don’t go as much as she does. It’s always fun, even if you just watch.

So I’m sitting in the stands watching the auctioneers (I’ll call them the sellers) sell there wares when I realize a problem with the auction. This is also the reason that the people that run the auction make money. This is the same marketing strategy that I’m using and showing you how to use. I was amazed….

How long have auctions been around? I read somewhere it’s about 2500 years?

1. The people in the stands, bidding on the stuff at the auction (I’ll call them buyers) already use the things that are being auctioned.
2. The buyers know what they would pay for the auctioned goods so they are getting a good deal.
3. The sellers know what they paid for the goods so they know they will be making a profit.
4. Over 200 people showed up in one day.

How would you like to have 200 people lined up waiting for your product or service? How about more? How about 200 people per day?

People will be attracted to you... how? Keep reading....

MLM - the truth

Here it is. This is the truth. Why do Network Marketers make money? Do they get someone to sign an agreement and pay them $300 or maybe $1000. They do, but is that how network Marketers get paid?

Customers. We have customers.

Bob Burg, The author of 'Endless Referrals' said, "All things being equal, people will do business with, and refer business to, those people they know, like and trust."

1. People will do business with you, if you are a person that they know, like and trust. It's just that simple and that complicated. There are endless books on the subject. How to get people to like you. Are there already people who like you? Start with those, and then find others who will like you, whom you haven't yet met.

2. Convenience... It is in our nature to want what is easiest. Everyone wants everything without having to do any thing. That's just another thing we can't have and that is why we want it. Make it easy for your customer. Don't confuse them with what they don't want to hear. If you don't know what they want then ask. Then you can help them.

3. Concentrate on the right market. If your company sells vitamins I would find people who use vitamins. A gym may be the right place and it might not. You might have to test the waters a little to find your customers. Your job isn't to convince people to use a product they never heard of before. Your job is to make sure they get that product from you.

We'll talk more on this soon...

...as always let me know what your qwestions are.

How to Motivate Your Downline

Ever wonder why you just can't get some people moving? You show your oppertunity to someone, and they are 'through the roof' excited. They get all the tools, information on the company and training materials. You think you're sitting on a gold mine. They go to the meetings and they are on all the conference calls but they can't get customers or sponsor any new reps into the business.

When I first started I got 6 new reps right away. I saw the 2 showing 2 chart and I was going to blow that right out of the water. Then none of my reps could recruit anyone else. I spent the next couple months wondering why they weren't like me and kept trying to train them but it didn't work.

Then I noticed something. I wasn't doing any recruting either. I went into manager mode. I was going to training and all that too. My downline was doing exactly what I was doing.

You see, there is a diference between a manager and a leader. Managers tell there people what to do and leaders just do what they do. Why would you follow someone that just tells you what to do all the time? You started this business to be your own boss in the first place. In the end those who have and have not will be directly connected to the ones that did and did not.

You need to learn what it is YOU have to do to be a success. Learn how to be the person that would attract you. Advertise yourself and you will be the one that is followed.

To your success

How can you tell a good rep from the first call?

Have you ever seen someone come into a company, make a huge downline and then quit? I've seen it. Some people are natural sales people and when they get into network marketing, that's what they do... They sell. They sold the business to their entire downline.

So what's wrong with that? Nothing? Everything?

In networking, I use services and buy products because of the person that I am getting them from. I like, know and trust that person. I wouldn't get it from any other source.

In sales, I use services and buy products because of the service or product. When something better, cheaper or nicer comes around I'll switch to that one. Do you see the difference?

If you happen to sell Network Marketing to some one, you have to work twice as hard to get them to stay. They act as if you sold them a broken product if you don't show them some cash real soon. They'll be looking for the next best thing to buy, or just quit all together. They say things like, "this isn't for me." or "at least I tried."

It's the people that get into Network Marketing for themselves that stay.

I spent over 30 years training my brain to get me where I am right now. I think that if I work real hard training myself to go somewhere else, then I will go there.

“It takes half your life before you discover life is a do-it-yourself project.”
-Napoleon Hill

How can you tell if you have a good rep from the first call?
Ask them what book they are reading right now or at least their favorite. The ones that are constantly learning and improving are the ones that will stay. They are the leaders of leaders.

Success is yours,

Fear, Just in our heads?

Here's how I see it...

Your brain has 2 main parts, the subconscious and the conscious. The conscious is like a computer. It tells you what to do, how to do it, why you are doing it and so on. The conscious controls everything. The subconscious is like a sponge. It has all your memories in it. The subconscious is full of pictures and video.

So, in your subconscious you have decided that when something happens it makes you feel a certain way. If you don't like that feeling, you will try to avoid it. If you like that feeling you try to get more of it. Feelings and your subconscious rule everything you do.

...and that's bad.

You have gotten in life, where ever you have gotten, depending on how you feel about certain situations....

I used to fear cold calling like crazy.... that phone was so heavy that I couldn't pick it up. I used to pace back and forth for hours just to make my first call.

Napoleon Hill, Author of "Think and Grow Rich" said there are 7 basic fears:

Fear of POVERTY
Fear of CRITICISM
Fear of ILL HEALTH
Fear of LOSS OF LOVE
Fear of LOSS OF LIBERTY
Fear of OLD AGE
Fear of DEATH

Any fear you have you can group into these basic fears

Here is what I think. I think that if you could see into the future and you saw that you were rich would you still do the things you needed to toget there?

....so I went to a hypnotherapist to work directly on my subconscious. I know there was no way I would quit so I had to try everything I could. I think it helped. I figured if it took 30 years to make what I have so far it would take a little time to change that.

Basically, I would do anything to succeed. I wouldn’t stop until I got there. I am the type of person you want in your team. How can you tell if you are working with that type of person?

I’ll let you know soon

Can You Handle It?

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man
but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above
that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to
escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
1 Corinthians, chapter 10:13

You see we cannot do more than we are able to handle. If we want
more in life, then we must learn to handle more in life. We must be
able to get a little uncomfortable and learn new things. The best thing
anyone ever did for me was to show an interest in my personal growth.
We are in constant conflict with our mind. Should we start a business?
Should we continue a business? Should we quit? Should we change?
Should we expand the business or not? Should we learn more? Are we
Learning the right things? We are always thinking. Through personal
growth I am able to make the choices that get me through the day.

The other choice we have is to not make a choice at all. That is what the
majority of us actually do. That is why we stay the same. That is why
we must settle for what we have right now. If I want more I have to be
more.

I have this poster in my room. It’s a picture of a field of brown grass,
with mountains in the background, blue sky and white clouds. Below the
photo it says:

GOALS

“Far away there in the sunshine are my highest aspirations. I may not
reach them, but I can look up and see their beauty, believe in them, and
try to follow where they lead.”

That is why I am writing you this letter. Where do you want to be in 6
months, 2 years, 5 years or 10 years? Where are you looking to and what( or who)
is leading you?

You'll Never Believe it.

You want to get more people into your business. That's what you really want. Why can't you just go up to people and make them sign up? Well... If you make them sign up you have to make them get customers and make them go to training and make them do every thing. We all know that won't work.

So what do you do?

I was working with a rep the other day and she went up to her friend and said, "Hey! You know that Business I told you about? Bret does it."

Her friend is thinking... "So Bret does something that my friend wants me to do but isn't doing"

So What!?

I bet if I walked up to that same friend and asked her about that day she wouldn't even remember it happened. Somebody didn't believe in their business. Somebody didn't believe in them self.

If you don't believe, then what are you going to do when 'rejection' taps you on the shoulder? Your fear of rejection is going to win because you don't believe. Your fear is stronger than your belief. You have to believe yourself before anyone else will believe you.

You can be anything you want to be, if you only believe with sufficient conviction and act in accordance with your faith; for whatever the mind can conceive and believe, the mind can achieve.
-Napoleon Hill

So once I believe it, I've got to get everyone else to believe it as well. How do I do that?

This is the easiest thing to understand and the hardest thing to actually do. Once you believe it, I mean really believe it... people will notice and be drawn to that. No body can tell you different and they will know it. Your belife has to be stronger than anything. When that happens people that could scare you before will be scared of you. They will be afraid NOT to follow you.

Are you thinking what I'm thinking? "I'll try anything to get this business up and running." Would you go to a hypnotherapist? It sounds funny, but I did. What do you think I learned? I'll let you know what I learned and how it can help your business explode!
